Here’s some news I’ve had to keep very quiet about…I’ve written a book for grown ups. Two weeks ago, it went out to publishers, and thirteen of them offered on it. Last week, I went to meet five of them, and ultimately decided to sign with Picador. The official announcement is here, and the Bookseller also ran a piece of the front page of the London Book Fair Daily:
Vardø has found a perfect home at Picador, and I can’t wait to get editing!
So happy to announce that I have signed up to three more books with my lovely publishers, Chicken House. The first is out in May 2017, and is titled The Island at the End of Everything. It’s available to preorder now from Waterstones, Foyles, and many other outlets.
For now, here’s the official Bookseller announcement.
In the past two weeks I’ve had two lovely emails from Elinor, Chicken House’s Rights Director. She’s the wonder responsible for finding homes for THE GIRL OF INK AND STARS across the world.
So far, aside from its initial deals in the US, Canada and the UK, it has now sold in Romania, New Zealand, Australia, Portugal, and most recently – Turkey! This reads like a dream list of travel destinations so I think some visits are in order when the book comes out in these various countries.
THE GIRL OF INK AND STARS has found its third home (outside the US and UK)! Here are some hints as to where that may be…
Just when I thought I was over the anxiety/joy of finishing copy-edits, this tweet popped up on my feed:
Elinor is the wonderful rights manager at Chicken House, and she will be sending out the ms to the world on Wednesday! Cue more anxiety, and maybe soon, hopefully-hopefully-keep-your-fingers-crossed-hopefully, joy.
